Op 8 november 2009 verzorgt onze promovenda Willemijn van der Linden een presentatie over haar promotie-onderzoek op de ´23rd Annual Conference of the Society for Literature, Science, and the Art' [zie http://www.litsciarts.org/slsa09/] dat plaats vindt van 5 tot en met 8 november 2009 te Atlanta (Georgia, V.S). ‘The Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts (SLSA) welcomes colleagues in the sciences, engineering, technology, computer science, medicine, the social sciences, the humanities, the arts, and independent scholars and artists. SLSA members share an interest in problems of science and representation, and in the cultural and social dimensions of science, technology, and medicine’.
Het begrip ‘decodings’, dat dit jaar het congresthema is, biedt aanknopingspunten voor reflectie op uiteenlopende thema’s. Zo zal worden nagedacht over grenzen tussen feit en fictie in culturele representaties van wetenschappelijke kennis, maar ook over de betekenis van digitale kunst (zoals interactieve video installaties), waarbij technologie en cultuur interfereren.
